USMC Operations and Allies

Pictured here are recent at sea operations of the USMC working with allies.  A key dimension of the global USN and USMC activity is working with allies for preparing for contingency operations. Sailors from the Peleliu Amphibious Ready Group and embarked Marines from the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit are participating in Exercise Crocodillo, a series of civil programs and training exercises with the Timor Leste and Australian militaries.

  • The first photo shows the amphibious assault ship USS Peleliu underway off the coast of Timore-Leste at dusk. Sailors from the Peleliu Amphibious Ready Group and embarked Marines from the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit are participating in Exercise Crocodillo, a series of civil programs and training exercises with the Timor Leste and Australian militaries.
  • The second photo shows the amphibious dock landing ship USS Pearl Harbor off the coast of Dili, Timor Leste.
  • The third photo shows personnel from the Timor Leste Defense Force boarding the amphibious dock landing ship USS Pearl Harbor.
  • The fourth photo shows a CH-53E Sea Stallion helicopter approaching the amphibious dock landing ship USS Pearl Harbor. The amphibious assault ship USS Peleliu is in the background.
  • The fifth photo shows Marines from the 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Division returning to the amphibious transport dock ship USS Dubuque in amphibious assault vehicles after training with Indonesian marines during Marine Exercise 2010. MAREX is designed to provide training to the Indonesian military and build relationships that help maintain regional stability.
  • The final photo shows a U.S. Marine assigned to the Force Reconnaissance Platoon of the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit jumping from a CH-46E Sea Knight helicopter during helicopter casting training as part of Marine Exercise 2010. The exercise began on June 19th,2010 and is designed to provide training to the Indonesian military and build relationships that help maintain regional stability.
