09/06/2011

09/06/2011 The role of amphibious ships and sea bases and forces are growing, not declining. Indeed, with the introduction of the Osprey and the F-35B, the role of these forces will increase.  And with the introduction of several new capabilities from European sources as well, the potential air capability off of amphibious ships will be enhanced.  A broad theme post-Libya is clearly the salience of multiple bases of operations within the span of operations.  We will be writing soon on the topic of flexible basing capabilities as a strategic construct, illustrated by French and American operations in Libya.
