11/07/2011: A rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C. hoisted two men from the Illusion, a 57-foot sport fisherman vessel, that was taking on water and aground in the vicinity of Cape Lookout, N.C. The Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew took the two men to Coast Guard Station Fort Macon, N.C., where they were met by emergency medical services.Neither man required medical assistance. The Illusion crew members contacted Coast Guard Sector North Carolina watch standers. A Coast Guard boat crew from Station Fort Macon launched to assist, but due to shoreline surf conditions, was unable to approach the vessel. The Deepwater program led to a significant upgrade of such helicopters with impacts on performance and availability.
