Bold Quest 13.2 is a multi-faceted international capability demonstration designed by the Joint Staff. Over 1,000 participants from 13 different countries will participate in Bold Quest to assess Digitally Aided Close Air Support technologies, along with tactics, techniques, and procedures which will help reduce friendly fire incidents, enhance combat effectiveness, and increase situational awareness.
U.S. Joint Staff’s J6 Command and Control Integration Joint Fires Division sponsors the Bold Quest Coalition Capability Demonstration and Assessment series, which fosters Joint and coalition resource pooling, collaborative data collection and analysis to inform capability development on a Joint and coalition scale.
The conceptual roots of the Bold Quest series date to 2001. Operational demonstrations were conducted from 2003 through 2013 at multiple venues in the United States and United Kingdom. These events involved coalition ground and aviation units as well as technical programs.
They produced coalition military utility assessment reports that have informed U.S. and allied interoperability, capability development and acquisition.
In 2008, U.S. and allied consensus endorsed the continuation of Bold Quest assessments on a recurring basis.
