01/17/2013: Patriot missiles have been sent to support the defense of Turkey in conditions of the Syrian upheaval.

But Patriots do not simply fly themselves.

They rely on the USAF lift capabilities to get there.This video shows the operation to move the Patriots from Europe to Turkey.

Patriots on the Move to Turkey

01/12/2013: The Dutch military has begun the deployment of two Patriot missile batteries to Turkey as part of the NATO mission to augment Turkey’s air defenses.

On Monday the 7th of January a convoy of 160 vehicles left a military base near Eindhoven.

The Patriots are set to arrive in the Turkish city of Adana around the 22nd of January.

Saweyan Shield

01/08/2013

1/8/2013: Soldiers assigned to Baker and Crusader Companies, 1st Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division alongside Kuwaiti Soldiers assigned to 15th Mubarak Brigade, teamed up to conduct the live fire exercise, Saweyan Shield.

Saweyan is the Arabic word for together.

The exercise culminated the two brigades’ partnered training over the previous five months. Lt. Gen. Vincent K. Brooks, Third Army/ARCENT commanding general, and Maj. Gen. Gary H. Cheek, Third Army/ARCENT deputy commanding general were on hand to observe the exercise.
