Hueys Live Fire Drills Over Yuma

02/26/2015: Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 267 from Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, were operating from Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Arizona, from December 2-11 to conduct live fire and fly-over drills on the air station’s vast ranges with UH-1Y Hueys and AH-1Z Cobras.

US-Norwegian Joint Training

02/26/2015: Members of the Minnesota National Guard and Norwegian Home Guard take part in a 12-mile journey into the mountains near Snaasa, Norway, Feb. 17, 2015. The exchange began in 1974 and is the longest-running military exchange partnership between any two nations. The yearly exchange promotes good will and sharpens military readiness between the nations as well as provides opportunities for cultural understanding among its participants.

 

While in Norway, the Minnesota National Guard Soldiers and Airmen will conduct winter operations training with the Norwegian Home Guard. They will also conduct weapons familiarization with their Norwegian trainers.

Jump Training from Osprey

02/24/2015: U.S. Marines with the Force Reconnaissance Detachment, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, conduct a static-line jump from an MV-22B Osprey during realistic urban training aboard Fort Hunter Liggett, Calif., Dec. 9, 2014.

These Marines are part of the 15th MEU’s Maritime Raid Force.

The purpose of RUT is to provide the MEU an opportunity to conduct training in unfamiliar environments in preparation for their deployment.

Raptors at Red Flag 2015

02/22/2015: Raptors in the Middle East are operating the fifth generation way.

After their up front kinetic operations, the F-22s play a major role working with the fleet to identify threats and targets for the legacy fleet.

As a Typhoon pilot put it: “F-22s enhance the survivability and lethality of the Typhoon in operations.”

In this video, F-22 Raptors assigned to the 1st Fighter Wing, 94th Fighter Squadron, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, VA, along with Airmen from the 192nd Fighter Wing from Joint Base Langley-Eustis, VA, participate in Red Flag 15-1 hosted at Nellis AFB, Las Vegas, NV.

Nellis AFB and the Nevada Test and Training Range are the home of a simulated battlefield, providing combat air forces with the ability to train to fight together in a peacetime environment, and to survive and win together.

Osan Crew Prepares F-16s for Launch

02/20/2015: During exercise Beverly Bulldog 15-1 at Osan Air Base, Republic of Korea, Dec. 6, 2014, flight crews at Osan prepare F-16s for launch.

Beverly Bulldog 15-1 is a peninsula-wide ORE designed to test American forces in the RoK’s mission readiness in the event of an emergency or wartime environment.

Helo Lift of Parts from Djibouti to the USS Iwo Jima

02/19/2015: A CH-53E Super Stallion, assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 365 (Reinforced), 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, carries a packaged 8,400-pound helicopter rotor head above Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, Feb. 13, 2015.

The rotor head, a high-priority part, was carried from Djibouti to the amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7).

The 24th MEU is embarked on the ships of the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group and deployed to maintain regional security in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.

VMGR-252 Aerial Refueling Exercise

02/17/2015: U.S. Marines assigned to Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron (VMGR) 252 conduct fixed wing aerial refueling training missions at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C., Dec. 02, 2014.

VMGR-252 refueled EA-6B Prowlers with Marine Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron 3 and AV-8 Harriers with Marine Attack Squadron 223.

Polar Star Frees Vessel from Antarctic Ice

02/17/2015: The Coast Guard Cutter Polar Star is on scene with the Antarctic Chieftain and the cutter begins breaking up the ice around the fishing vessel.

The Polar Star, the United States’ only operational heavy icebreaker, transits an ice field in the Southern Ocean en route to the Antarctic Chieftain, a disabled fishing vessel near Antarctica, Feb. 13, 2015.

 Polar Star’s crew is participating in a multinational rescue operation for the Antarctic Chieftain’s crew.

 Polar Star’s crew has been underway in Antarctica in support of Operation Deep Freeze 2015, part of the U.S. Antarctic Program, managed by the National Science Foundation.

 The disabled fishing vessel Antarctic Chieftain is towed astern of the Coast Guard Cutter Polar Star through sea ice near Antarctica, Feb. 14, 2015. Polar Star’s crew will tow Antarctic Chieftain to the safety of open water.
