Air Combat Officer Dedication Ceremony.

Chief of Air Force, Air Marshal Geoff Shepherd AO presents the incoming School of Air Warfare (SAW) Commanding Officer
Wing Commander (WGCDR) Andrew ‘Jake’ Campbell with spears that were given to the School by the local Gunai people.

AFIR No 000-187-113. *** Local Caption *** On Thursday 24th January 2008 the School of Air Warfare (SAW) conducted a Dedication Ceremony to observe the transition from the School of Air Navigation (SAN) to School of Air Warfare.
The ceremony was held at the Officers Mess Annex Garden, Royal Australian Air Force Base, East Sale, Victoria and was reviewed by Chief of Air Force, Air Marshal Geoff Shepherd AO.

SAW has commenced the delivery of a brand new curriculum designed to graduate Air Combat Officers (ACOs), rather than Navigators. ACOs will direct the air mission. They will command airborne missions and are responsible for directing weapons and other weapon systems onto targets.
