The Royal Australian Navy Anzac Class Frigate HMAS Stuart is joined by the RAN Collins Class Submarine HMAS Sheean during a routine transit and training exercise off Christmas Island. *** Local Caption *** HMAS Stuart and HMAS Sheean took the opportunity to fit in some training as Sheean was transiting to Singapore for exercise Bersama Shield. The two vessels practised anti-submarine warfare drills and combined surface and sub-surface patrol manoeuvres in deep water off the Indian Ocean. HMAS Sheean will soon join HMAS Sydney at Exercise Bersama Shield which aims to enhance interoperability and strengthen the professional relationships between Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom (members of the Five Power Defence Agreement). The FPDA exercise will see 200 ADF members conduct combined and joint maritime, land and air operations in a multi-threat environment.
