The Worimi Elders were presented with a framed Aboriginal flag, with a photograph of the Worimi hornet flying over the Murrook Centre by CDRACG AIRCDRE Roberton. The Worimi Dance Troop performed traditional dances and invited Defence children to dance with them with the Worimi Hornet as a backdrop.
NAIDOC Week is held annually to recognise and celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Indigenous Australians have a long and rich history of contributing to the defence of Australia.
This year, the NAIDOC Week theme is “We all stand on sacred ground – Learn, Respect and Celebrate.” This years theme highlights Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ strong spiritual and cultural connection to the land and sea.
