F-35 Lightning II begins DT-II aboard USS Dwight D. Eisenhower

12/26/2017

ATLANTIC OCEAN (Oct. 3, 2015) Cmdr. Ted “Dutch” Dyckman, an F-35 Lightning II test pilot from the F-35 Pax River Integrated Test Force (ITF), carrier qualifies aboard USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69). Two F-35Cs assigned to the Salty Dogs of Air Test and Evaluation Squadron (VX) 23 are conducting the second phase of F-35C carrier suitability and integration developmental testing (DT-II) in the at-sea environment. In 2014, Dyckman made aviation history when he conducted night ops during DT-I aboard USS Nimitz (CVN 68) – an unheard of feat since the Navy’s F-4 era.
