Air Insertion Exercise in Poland

Approximately 500 Soldiers of the 173rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne) and attached units, Italian Armed Forces and Israeli Defense Forces conducted airborne insertion exercises of personnel and heavy equipment on Miroslawiec Airfield, Poland, June 8, 2018. 

The airborne operations were part of Exercise Swift Response 18 taking place in the Miroslawiec and Drawsko Promorskie Training Areas. SR18 is one of the premier military crisis response training events for multinational airborne forces in the world. SR18 is a joint U.S. Army/U.S. Air Force exercise designed to train the U.S. Global Response Force – led by the U.S. Army’s 82d Airborne Division. 

The exercise includes approximately 2,300 participants from seven allied and partner nations that will take place at locations in Poland, Latvia and Lithuania from June 7-15. 

Also happening in the region is Saber Strike 18 (SbS18), a U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS)-directed, U.S. European Command (USEUCOM)-scheduled, U.S. Army Europe (USAREUR)-led theater exercise, June 3-15, at locations throughout the Baltic region and Poland, including: Rukla and Pabrade training areas in Lithuania; Adazi training area and Lielvarde Air Base in Latvia; and Amari Air Base, and Tapa and Voru training areas in Estonia; Drawskow Promorski and Bemow Powiski training areas in Poland.
