ADF support to Vietnamese Deployable Medical Facility

Australia supported Vietnam’s first deployment of a Role 2 field hospital to a United Nations peacekeeping mission through providing two airlifts by Royal Australian Air Force C-17A Globemaster aircraft in late September 2018. 

Additionally, the Australian Defence Force provided the Vietnamese Peacekeepers with English language training and other specialist equipment as part of Australia’s Defence Cooperation Program with Vietnam. 

The strategic airlift was the first time the Vietnamese military partnered with another nation to take its forces overseas.

Day in the Life of an F-35A Maintainer 

The F-35A Joint Strike Fighter is the most advanced, affordable fifth generation multi-role stealth fighter to meet Australia’s need to defeat emerging threats well into the future. 

The F-35A is truly next-generation due to its stealth capability, advanced sensors, data fusion and its ability to share information with other aircraft, Army units and Navy ships. 

The Australian Government has approved the purchase of 72 F-35A aircraft to replace F/A-18A/B Hornets. 

Royal Australian Air Force pilots and maintenance personnel are fully embedded and integrated in USAF squadrons as they prepare to lead Australia’s transition to a fifth-generation Air Force.

Marine Rotational Force – Darwin Depature

The 2018 Marine Rotational Force – Darwin, consisting of 1,500 United States Marines and eight MV-22 Ospreys, completed six months of training and exercises in Northern Australia and began its departure from Australia on October 2018.

The seventh and largest rotation to date included an artillery battery of six M777 Howitzers.

During the six-month tour, the Marines participated in 15 training activities alongside the Australian Defence Force and other regional nations including Japan, the Philippines and France.

Joint Logistics Training in Trident Juncture 2018

Croatian Brigadier General Danko Pintaric, Joint Logistics Support Group Commander, gives an interview on his units progress thus far for Trident Juncture 2018 at a training ground in Sessvollmoen, Norway. 

The unit is part of NATO’s Very High Readiness Joint Task Force, which is
exercising in Norway as part of Trident Juncture 2018.

NATO and Norway are holding one of the largest military exercises ever held in the country.

During October and November, around 50,000 participants from all over NATO and its partners have come to Norway for exercise Trident Juncture 2018.

The exercise tests the whole military chain – from troop training at the tactical level, to command over large forces. It trains the troops of the NATO Response Force and forces from other allies and partners, ensuring they can work seamlessly together.
