F-35B Lightning II pilots with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit perform flight operations aboard the USS Wasp (LHD-1) during Certification Exercise, April 13, 2018. 

The 31st MEU and Amphibious Squadron 11 conduct Certification Exercise as the final evaluation in a series of training exercises which ensures readiness for crisis response throughout the Indo-Pacific region.

Between 9 and the 20th of April, a large air combat exercise was held at Leeuwarden Air Base in the Netherlands. 

The exercise is called Frisian Flag 2018. 

Participating aircraft from several countries in the world will be airborne twice a day.

12th Air Force Participates in Chilean Air Show

Twelfth Air Force (AFSOUTH) joined with Airmen from across the United States to support the FIDAE (Feria Internacional del Aire y del Espacio) Air Show, April 3-8 in Santiago, Chile. 

Over 240 Airmen and nine U.S. Air Force aircraft arrived in Chile for FIDAE, the largest air show of its kind in South America.

USS Monterey Launches Syria Missile Strikes

The guided-missile cruiser USS Monterey (CG 61) fires a Tomahawk land attack missile April 14. 

Monterey is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of maritime security operations to reassure allies and partners and preserve the freedom of navigation and the free flow of commerce in the region.

Afghan Special Mission Wing

777th Special Mission Wing is Afghanistan’s special operations aviation force. SMW delivers special operators from the Afghan National Army Special Operations Command and General Command of Police Special Units on time, on target, and under the cover of darkness. Established in 2005 as the Air Interdiction Unit, SMW is regarded as one of the region’s premier aviation units.

Executing an Air Bridge to Support Insertion Forces During Tailsman Sabre 2017

The Royal Australian Air force leads a multi national fleet of military aircraft in the skies above Queensland. 

In one of Australia’s biggest peacetime air movements of troops and equipment, aircraft from three nations deployed soldiers to the front lines of Exercise Talisman Sabre. 

This biennial exercise cements the key relationship between the forces of the United States, Australia and New Zealand. 

Thirty three thousand participants train together to enhance joint war fighting skills for regional security.
